Tailor-made disease prevention in livestock

Autogenous vaccines

Autogenous vaccines are inactivated vaccines (not live vaccines) that are developed and used for a specific livestock herd. In our laboratory, we analyze the pathogens isolated from the herd and, after diagnosis (link), start producing the tailor-made vaccine. We use special adjuvants for this. These adjuvants are selected in a specific way, i.e. depending on the type of bacteria or virus, the animal species and the type of livestock farming. It usually only takes a few weeks from sample collection to vaccination.

More immunization, fewer antibiotics

Veterinarians and livestock farmers use the herd-specific vaccines in poultry, cattle, pigs, goats, sheep and fish – for targeted prophylaxis and with the aim of reducing the use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine.

Vaccine development for your unique livestock:

  • Sampling of the diseased livestock – either by you as a veterinarian or livestock owner
animal owner or by us on request
  • Isolation and characterization of the pathogens – see Diagnostics
  • Multiplication in pure culture and inactivation
  • Addition of adjuvants to strengthen the immune response
  • Vaccination – in the intended herd and only by veterinarians

Monitoring is important

To ensure that the stock-specific vaccines work optimally, we continuously monitor the properties of the pathogens. This allows us to update the composition accordingly in the event of changes.

We pick up your samples!

If necessary, we will visit you and take the sample from the animal together with you. We then take the material to our laboratory and start vaccine production.

Sample collection with GO: Express up to 10 kg (please inform us one day in advance)

Manufacturing Authorization

Herd vaccines have been used in Germany for a long time. They are enshrined in national legislation on animal diseases and veterinary medicinal products. With the entry into force of the European Union’s Veterinary Medicinal Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2019/6 on 28.01.2022), there is a uniform legal basis for these vaccines throughout Europe for the first time. The production of the vaccine requires an official manufacturing authorization from the laboratory. INVAC provides full proof of the corresponding technical equipment, special manufacturing processes and expertise.

For individual animals: autovaccines

Herd-specific vaccines are developed for a specific herd of livestock and are used for prophylaxis. Autovaccines are generally used for individual animals that are already ill – e.g. chronic urinary tract infections or papilloma virus. In both cases, we are your diagnostic and vaccination partner and supply both large livestock herds and individual pets and zoo animals with exactly the right vaccine.
